IRENA, on behalf of the Global Geothermal Alliance, in collaboration with the International Geothermal Association, is honoured to invite you to participate in the upcoming capacity building webinar “Powering Agri-Food Value Chains with Geothermal Heat” on June 23rd, 2022, through the platform Zoom in English at 9 am CEST.
This event is organized in the context of the launch of IRENA‘s upcoming publication Powering Agri-Food Value Chains with Geothermal Heat: Guidelines for policymakers, a report which provides best practices for the deployment of geothermal heat in the agri-food sector based on an analysis of successful global case studies.
The use of geothermal heat in the agri-food sector is rising worldwide, with several examples from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania. However, more significant progress can be achieved with increased support in areas such as resource mapping, policy and regulations, financing, and capacity building, as well as the development of tools that can enable policymakers to carry out assessments of geothermal heat utilization, such as socio-economic impacts and heat pricing.
The preliminary agenda includes the following main topics :
