The Energi Simulation for Geothermal Systems Research at the University of Calgary has Summer 2023 opportunities for students. Projects include experimental work, theoretical model validation, and software development.
Undergraduate students are invited to apply for positions in the following areas:
Data Analysis & Machine Learning: using the library of research and field data, develop models for improved drilling and production of geothermal resources
Experimental Analysis: Thermal conductivity and drilling optimization studies
System Feasibility Analysis: For a given system, conduct a techno-economic feasibility analysis for a specific application in Western Canada
Policy & Community Engagement: Interact with community leaders to understand motivations and concerns regarding geothermal energy projects
*Note: Selected applicants will be expected to apply for either PURE or USRA research award based on their eligibility. Applications are due Feb 3, 2023. Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to consult both programs' requirements.
