Waterloo is seeking suitable Post-Doctoral Fellows or Doctoral student candidates to work on Geomechanics research projects related to CO2 storage in Ontario and in the Atlantic Provinces.
Areas of activity will be in stress estimates, populating static models (PETREL) with geomechanics information, statistical inference in generating static models of CO2 Storage reservoirs, seismic risk probabilistic assessment, caprock integrity under temperature and pressure changes, hydroshearing and hydraulic stimulation, pre-existing fault reactivation, estimation approaches for accessible pore volume estimates in heterogeneous porous media, and related topics.
People with backgrounds in porous media mechanics, geomechanics, reservoir static and dynamic modelling, applied geophysics, and statistical approaches to data management (extrapolation and interpolation) of sparse information for engineering assessment will be considered. MSc candidates, that are Canadians or Permanent Residents. will also be considered.
