Project InnerSpace will launch GeoMap North America, the second major data launch of our global geothermal resource mapping project. GeoMap is a freely accessible geothermal prospecting tool being developed by Project InnerSpace in partnership with Google.
GeoMap North America includes surface and subsurface data for Canada, the United States and Mexico. This new launch includes some pretty cool features, including 150+ layers of subsurface and surface data, with many layers newly created and never before used for geothermal prospecting, allowing users to explore and rank geothermal development opportunities utilizing factors like state and county boundaries, pollution point sources, distance to transmission, heat and electricity demand, regulatory incentives, and technoeconomic considerations.
Want to see US coal plants with the highest geothermal conversion potential? How about military bases? Want to know the states in the US with the greatest geothermal potential that are right now completely absent from the conversation (think geothermal in Alabama)?
