The IGCP 636 Geothermal Resources for Energy Transition is a research group that includes research institutes globally. This international research group has its origin within the successful experience with the previous IGCP project “Unifying international research forces to unlock and strengthen geothermal exploitation of the Americas and Europe” (2016-2019).
The students in the Geothermal Research Group at Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) in Quebec City, Canada are working in conjunction with the IGCP 636 reseach group to compliment the group meeting with an opportunity to learn about geothermal resource exploration in Portugal.
Information about the field trip and the IGCP 636 annual meeting can be found here.
Ten master's and doctoral students in Earth Sciences at the Center Eau Terre Environnement of the National Institute for Scientific Research will participate in an immersive training on energy and geothermal energy in Portugal between October 21 and November 1, 2023.
A Fundraising Campaign has been set up to help support students in this geothermal expedition in Portugal. Donations will help to cover part of the costs incurred by students. Their goal is to raise $10,000. Donations will be accepted through the INRS Foundation and are eligible for a tax credit.
