Lecture 2 — December 15, 2021
Decarbonizing the Built Environment with Geo-Exchange (GX)
GX Defined, Innovations in Technology, Applications, Implementation, and more.
Speakers
Michael DeWeerd, EIT
As Project Engineer, Michael, is a technical leader and is proficient throughout the geothermal design and construction process from building energy modeling to the detailed design, construction, implementation and operation of a ground- heat exchangers. As an alumnus of the University of Waterloo, Michael brings a strong competencies in geological engineering principles and a diverse background of experience including the design and construction of deep foundation and ground improvement elements, civil engineering consulting and production line optimization.
Adam Alaica P.Eng, MASc
Adam leads the development of geothermal utility initiatives, including collaboration and coordination with clients, technical and financial feasibility and business case proposal development. An energy professional, with over 8 years of experience in the low-carbon energy sector, Adam focuses his effort on the feasibility and design development of low-carbon thermal energy technologies, including geothermal, sewer heat recovery, heat pumps, heat recovery chillers, and others; both at the building and community level (district energy). In addition, Adam brings hands on experience in automation and process control from the industrial sector.
